Participants

We are taking interest from potential participants including authors, bloggers, agents, editors, publicists, cover designers, marketing specialists, directors, film and TV producers, actors, screenwriters, etc. We need agents who accept or specialize in YA/Kidlit, subsidiary rights agents, publishers (big and small), genre publishers, and anyone who feels they might have something interesting to talk about! If you would like to participate, or have ideas for workshops and or panels, please send a note to inquiries@yalitchat.org with your complete contact info, professional bio, website and social media links and the idea. 

Our tentative program is as follows:

The Publishing business – editors and agents answer burning questions from attendees about the state of YA book publishing. New presses may also exhibit in our “New Kids” exhibit for debut authors and newer presses.

Subsidiary Rights for indie authors and small presses.

First Pages – page 1 feedback from publishers and agents.

Synopsis Repair Shop – synopsis feedback (must send in advance) from agents and editors/one-on-one sessions.

Query Kick-Around – query feedback boxing ring style.  Judged by attendees. A winner will be crowned!

Agent Insider -agents talk what they’re seeking, trends, etc.

Blogger Nation – blogger panel re best practices, book promotion, blogger relations.

Agent – Author Relationship tips, tricks and disasters.

Agent – Author Hookup – speed dating or blind date style.

On Submission – author round-table re: what it’s like to be on submission, how to survive the wait, pitfalls, etc.
